How can ESSO offer a discount on our current rates?
During the period of your existing contract, ESSO makes a loss on those rates.
Once that contract ends, ESSO moves your supply onto its own internal shipping agreements with selected suppliers. At that stage:
You continue to be billed directly by ESSO.
You are charged the rates agreed in your ESSO contract.
ESSO bills you for the full duration of the process.

I’m already in a contract. Can I still transfer to ESSO?
Yes. Even if you are currently in contract with another supplier, ESSO can still take over your account.
All that is required is for you to sign a Letter of Authority (LOA). This is sent to your existing supplier, allowing ESSO to add the ESSO address and payment details to your account.
Once this is in place:
You will stop receiving invoices from your current supplier.
Payments will no longer be made to them.
No cancellation or termination fees are incurred, as the existing contract is not breached.
ESSO will bill you directly at the agreed rates.
On some occasions, you may be asked to contact your supplier by phone or email to ensure the LOA is processed.

I tried calling the supplier directly and they won’t speak to me. Why?
This is due to contractual and data protection arrangements.
You hold a contract with ESSO.
ESSO holds the contract with the supplier.
Because of this structure:
The supplier can only discuss the account with ESSO.
They cannot disclose information to third parties.
This is the same principle that would prevent anyone other than ESSO discussing ESSO’s supplier contracts.

Should I use an energy broker to get a better deal?
ESSO does not recommend using brokers to secure alternative energy rates.
Based on our experience, brokers may prioritise commission over client outcomes. We have seen cases where:
Contracts were breached.
Clients were left in a worse position financially.
If you are unhappy at any stage, we encourage you to contact ESSO directly so we can resolve any concerns.

Can I leave ESSO before my contract ends?
If you are considering leaving early, we would first want to understand why.
Where possible, we will try to resolve any issues. However:
Leaving ESSO during an active contract is considered a breach.
Termination fees would apply.
Supply would be released once those fees are settled.

What are termination fees and how are they calculated?
Termination fees apply if a contract is breached.
Calculation is based on:
The estimated energy you would have used for the remainder of the contract.
The price you agreed with ESSO.
The price ESSO pays suppliers for that same volume.
The difference between those figures is charged as the termination fee.
Where possible, there is always an opportunity to rectify the breach before fees are finalised.
